Greetings;

I am not very familiar with Feng Shui, but read your article Feng Shui for Wealth and the section for Wealth and Prosperity being located at the rear left section of the structure from the entry front door.

Just a bit confused about where that is exactly. I thought that I was to look at my house from the directions of North, East, South and West. My house is an L shape, with the front door in the center where the house turns. The rear of my house would be to the left of an L and the front to the right of it, with north being at the bottom left corner where the L bends. If I stand facing my front door, the left rear section would be in my kitchen.

We too were taught that hard work would keep us humble. Unfortunately, working long hard hours takes us away from time with family. Last year we purchased a new home to move our family into a better area for our son to grow up in, and this has put us into a bit of financial distress. We lost so much selling our old semi-unit home that the ten years of equity built up, that was to help us get into a better neighborhood later, was lost and we were right back at square one buying our second home.

I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide us with to help bring more wealth and prosperity into our home.

Hello, thanks for your inquiry. There are many schools of feng shui. The most widely practiced in the United States is called Black Hat Sect. When using this school’s bagua or grid, which is placed over the home for mapping the different aspects and elements of your life, it stays stationary. Therefore, it is much easier to determine the location of each section. Other schools work just as well, but after using others, I found this version of a complex science to be more easily understood by my clients. As I do the consultation, I am constantly teaching the homeowner the principles of feng shui or the art of placement. This way you will have a guide to follow on all choices of businesses and homes in your future.

To begin, place the octagonal bagua in the center of the structure with the career zone lined up with the front door. Physical direction is not needed for this process. If your front door in lined up with the street, this automatically put the career opportunities looking toward the road. Western homes usually have a main entry to the left, middle or right side of front part of the home facing the street. Sometimes the entry is to the side, symbolizing a more private family. My booklet, which I call Mapping the Home, is used for this purpose. It helps you find the entry of the chi. There are many creative doorways to confuse a person. This is why I am called in to evaluate the entry.

For most homes, though, the far back left corner of the dwelling holds the answers to money questions. Every home owned, past, present and future gives the consultant clues needed to change any negative abundance beliefs. I personally wish I had found this way of life many years ago. It would have saved me much grief in the money department. I find westerners as a whole see money as a necessary evil. Other cultures consider money sacred and spiritual, in which excess may be used to bring order to a country. I think we need an attitude adjustment and use abundance for peace in mind body and spirit.

Maybe one of my upcoming classes would help you get a hold on the current situation by bringing a floor plan to class. January 11 is "Clear the Clutter" and then in February and March I will be taking students through local homes to show how I feng shui a home. Hope to see you there!
