West Meets East© By Caroline Patrick Stockton, CA Wants to Know More About Feng Shui I have numerous speaking engagements throughout the year. This delightful group from Stockton invited me to speak for their organization after several of their members visited by business several months ago. Being welcomed by approximately 100 people for the lecture on Feng Shui pleasantly surprised me one summer’s evening in their city. Here is a response from one of the group to the art of placement called feng shui. Hi Caroline,
Thank you so much for your presentation at Haute Couture Thursday evening. I really enjoyed your presentation. Even as a business major at college, I always took my elective classes in subjects about gaining spiritual knowledge about my self, but have not studied Feng Shui. During the lecture you discussed a book Clearing Your Life of Clutter which I am going to purchase, but is there another beginner book that you might suggest? I wasn’t on the club’s trip to Benicia, but will be visiting in a few weeks.
Again, thank you for Thursday’s presentation. Hello, Thank you, I enjoyed presenting your group with this ancient knowledge. I hope it added depth to your understanding of space, color, vibrations of colors. Using this concept in everyday life provides us with a more peaceful environment. Whether you are painting a picture, sewing clothes or visual tapestries, gardening, carving, throwing clay on a wheel, building a home, welding creations such as gates, or blowing glass, color is always evolved. Each color has a corresponding element. When black, blue, green, purple, red, pink, white and yellow are used in certain areas of the home a feeling of comfort is conveyed. The reason is, a balance and harmony is accomplished. Even if you are visually impaired, a feeling of warmth or coolness vibrates from the colored object. The passion of color as an artist, has always pushed me to the limits, trying to achieve these vibrant rays of light and record them on canvas. Each color has a spiritual mission, to see, to teach and to learn how this spectrum affects the planet. If we didn’t have light, water, air, earth and fire, this planet called earth wouldn’t be alive. Feng Shui or the balance of wind and water, demands lush green surroundings, sunlight, a non-polluted source of running water, gentle blowing breezes and landscapes to provide protection from extreme weather conditions, and a shelter in which to live. Here is where we as humans {excuse my drench} screw up. We are a "got to have everything" culture. Now the clutter begins as we build more storage for our possessions. I have to admit that after a huge flood wiped out our home in Arizona, I still didn’t get it! Digging a trench ten feet deep and thirty feet long with a back hoe, to plant our destroyed possessions only sent me to shop for more things. Now I had a reason to buy more things, right? Twenty years later, I have finally figured out, less is more. Now, to convince other people, who I won’t mention their names, of this revelation is the hard part. Each person comes to this conclusion in their own time. Removing clutter is a daily tossing game. This stays, this goes. The best way to go about this chore is one drawer or one room at a time. This weekend I haven’t allowed myself to go out of the house until the paper mess is filed and outdated old mail is gone. As you can see, I’m still at it. I took a much need break to delete old email so new mail can enter. I understand I missed two email movies of my young grandsons, because the inbox was too full. That sent me in the direction of the computer to clear the way for those movies! Clear the Clutter by Karen Kingston is the best book I have found of the art of moving energy for the better. Hallways symbolize the veins and arteries of your body. As you fill your living spaces beyond capacity the body reacts with like energy. Taking Karen’s workshops last spring motivated me even further to rid myself of excess. When health problems arrive unexpectedly, look around at the congested middle of the home or business floor plan. I carry many great books in the shoppe for my clients and students. Thank you for your reply. I enjoyed my visit and hope you use the information about feng shui during the lecture.
