Remodeling of a City, Part 2

The Spirit of Places

Cities that are successful have a special feel about them. People come from all over the world to experience this unique Chi as it restores their soul. I have traveled some and I find some cities call me back again and again. These special locations are hitting the acupuncture points of Feng Shui. You like the environment, the experience and the feeling of place. Mind, body and soul are sparked all at the same time! A few places I have felt this are Hawaii in hidden places of the Huna, the mountain tops of Colorado, caves of Missouri, the plains of Western Kansas, forests of Ireland, Oregon and Washington, Indian Pueblos of Arizona, New Mexico, Sedona, Arizona, before the tourists took over, the outback’s of Mexico, the oceans of China, Ireland and the Pacific, as well as sacred sites and meadows where few people have hiked, and the Alaskan waterways to hidden villages.

Watching TV specials is one way to travel, but the feelings about these places are what I want to experience. The Spirit of Place is the only way to see, smell, feel and become part of the surroundings. Ancient temples, incense burners filling the air with prayers, sending them to the heavens, the smelling of cooking pots, local chatter in local languages, sitting, observing and becoming part of the scene is what makes me want to live longer. Dirty children leaning into me as we sit on a rock bench drawing pictures of common things. The silent language of art always opens doors for me, when I am not communicating with the locals. Using the HELPFUL PEOPLE and TRAVEL section of the home, located to the far front right of your house, we find the Gua or area to encourage travel. Placing photos or paintings of far-off places will help these dreams manifest, as Heaven looks over you in this auspicious section of your home. Make sure this space is clear of clutter, and place flyers, cruise pamphlets or maps to activate this dream.

A TV placed in this room might also take you to places you have always wanted to go, if you don’t want to leave home. Also, work out of your WEALTH or far back left corner of the house to invite money to your bank account. Remember, to double your luck, you can Feng Shui one room, such as an office, plus a business location and your home. Place a mirror to the side or overlooking your desk, dining room table, or kitchen stove to “bring water across” to you, as water brings money and mirrors’ reflections are sometimes considered water! Now you activate the Wind and Water Guas of the eight-sided octagon of Feng Shui.

Using your gardens to invite good Chi flow is another way to find delight as you look out the windows year-round. As the winter months bring rain and darker days, buy small solar lights to backlight those special sections of the yard to reflect Wealth or the Partnership. Add these inexpensive spots of Yang energy to these areas. A bench for two sitting in the snow becomes an outdoor art piece as the light shines on the setting. Bird feeders activate the FAME triad in the middle backyard space, as Fame is the home of wild animals. Place Christmas lighting in any dark space inside or outside the home for all seasons.

Holidays are special as decorations sparkle and shine. No wonder our spirits lift as the winter season of celebrations occur. Holiday parades and lighting bring customers to businesses. Make sure your business doors and windows allow potential customers to view what is inside. Too many flyers on the store front windows block the Chi. A large red carpet which lays firmly on the entry entices buyers into the store. Red is the color for renewal and lifts energy to any location. Rotating lights also draw in people to your business. Place a large mirror shining upward under your cash register to double your money.

Make your city a place to remember. Work together in team effort to raise the Chi of your town. Large buildings that overwhelm a smaller building nearby can cause business to suffer for the smaller structure. Feng Shui can come to the rescue for this problem, keeping both parties happy. Think of the larger picture of seeing the city thrive and become a hot spot for tourists, allowing a win-win situation for everyone. Provide parking for all the businesses. This is a big turn-off for success! Having nowhere for prospective clients or customers to safely leave their vehicles can turn them away after trying to find a legal parking place. Living in the state of Washington, parking at the ferry terminals is crucial for island business. Recently a small city built a wonderful large parking lot for the ferry travelers. We were ecstatic and waited patiently for the lot to open. Then a sign went up that said “4-hour parking”....What??? It takes an hour to go to the island and an hour to return. According to the ferry schedule, no one could leave, come back and shop without receiving a ticket. The new parking lot is vacant!!!! Who are you paying to make those decisions?

Co-operate with each other. If things aren’t going smoothly, then look to the center of the city for answers.
