Portland 2002 Workshop

Many years ago I began to read and study the ancient art of placement, a fascinating system used by many successful modern-day businesses and corporations to increase productivity among their employees and provide secure profits for their stockholders. How could a simple but complex mathematical grid placed over structures and land provide an answer to sustain and acquire abundance for homeowners and businesses alike?

Looking for a teacher to learn this ancient technique was a challenge. I had found a few short-term classes on feng shui, but it seemed the instructors were on the same path as me and so began my journey and as I became ready – the teacher appeared! I was taking art classes with a wonderful Bay Area artist when one day I overheard her talking about feng shui. Leaving my table, I listened to her conversation with another student. Always wanting to learn more about color, its theories, vibrations and effects on living spaces, health of persons and the five elements relationship with nature, I leaned forward toward the art teacher, soaking up the information like a sponge. "If you really want the best knowledge available in the United States, you need to consider learning from the Master himself, Professor Lin Yun at Berkeley." I took her advice and my world changed. Here are some of Master Lin Yun’s qualifications. His manner is soft and humble and his workshops are becoming classics, as he spends much of the year traveling. His itinerary for 2002 to May 2003 includes worldwide 20 scheduled workshops and lectures from New York to Hong Kong, Germany, Philadelphia, Florida to Boston, Connecticut, Taipei, Taiwan to Paris, France. This week I traveled to one of my favorite cities, Portland, Oregon for more classes. My Saturday, October 19th workshop at Benicia’s Best Western Hotel will include some of the Portland’s workshop information on the home and structures outside the floor plan, such as detached garages, storage sheds, offices, etc.

Whether conferring with world leaders or listening to individual family problems – with advice for healing their bodies and homes, his patience is remarkable. At 70 years old, his wisdom is unique. He embraces all religions and reiterates his ideas of using your own religion and beliefs to incorporate feng shui into your home. "Pray to your own god for harmony and peace. Use your own ceremonies to bring Chi into your environment." Here are a few of professor’s achievements while promoting world peace.

As a distinguished religious leader and foremost leading authority on feng shui, Professor Lin Yun lectures extensively at the invitation of academic institutions and religious communities all over the world. His audience includes the Library of Congress, the Parapsychology Society of the United Nations, the Women’s Guild of the United Nations, the Society of Enlightenment and Transformation of the United Nations, the American Institute of Architects and leading universities such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Cornell, Duke, Johns Hopkins, University of Hawaii, University of Minnesota, California University of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, Wellesley College, Brandeis University, Dartmouth College, Williams College, University of Washington, New York Institute of Technology, Oxford University in England. In Germany, University of Duisburg, Heine University, University of Munich. In China, Beijing University, Qinhua University, and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, just to name a few. In addition, there are numerous lectures and workshop that have been conducted in England, France, Spain, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, India, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, and South Africa, and so on. He has constantly been interviewed by news media, such as national and local television networks, including CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, FOX, the BBC of England, and major television networks in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Far East Asia. Interviews and articles on Grandmaster Lin Yun and his teachings often appear in newspapers, journals, and magazines throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Professor Lin Yun currently holds a position as Adjunct Professor of School of Arts and Letters of San Diego State University. Formerly, he was Lecturer at the Yale-in-China Program of the Hong Kong Chinese University, Visiting Professor at University of an Francisco (1980-81), Visiting Professor at Stanford University (1981-82), and Research Professor for three years at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies at Seton Hall University (1982-85).
