The Past and Future Hold Hands, Part II

What you don’t solve from the past bubbles to the top. If you don’t believe it, walk into the kitchen and put a pot of water on to boil. Watch the Water sit innocently doing nothing until the Element of Fire is added to the mix. After the flood of 1983, our life in Arizona was never the same. The house was ruined. The irrigation wells filled with sand, and my new car sitting next to the house couldn’t be fixed. Everything within a fifty-mile radius was under two-to-five feet of Water. It was definitely time to move on. Looking back over my life so far, I have learned to move forward more quickly. Dragging your feet when you first hear “the whispers” will only cause anguish, disease and stagnation. I have told the Arizona flood story to those who come to my classes hoping they can relate to why change is necessary. We should have sold the ranch one year sooner when I first heard “the whisper.” But my personal Fire was not strong.

I resisted leaving the farm/ranch. Life had been good for me in Arizona. I had fun teaching for the colleges in the area, and I made many friends. The kids had left home, and I wanted one more year to collect myself before selling the place and getting on the road to travel with my husband’s company. Now that Water had flooded and consumed my life, I needed to take a hard look at why? It took a year to clean up the property from the Water damage. Now it was time to add Fire to the mix. Where better to learn the lessons of Fire than California, the Fame state sunshine state. I remember saying I would never live in that crazy state. Watch what you say, for that is a clue to what you are resisting. California was waiting for me, and I was fighting the unfamiliar territory with all that was in me. Strange illnesses plagued me during this time of decisions and my knees became inflamed doing a new exercise called aerobics. My husband’s job took us to many places over the next 14 years, and I began to take a look at myself and didn’t like what I saw.

When the student is ready, teachers appear. I worked on my Fire and Water and learned to balance the elements in my Career and Health. Each teacher told me things I didn’t want to hear and then gave me tools and knowledge to work on myself. I introduced the Wood Element and grew to new heights. I learned to listen and be still. I learned to listen to the space between Wind and Water where the soul resided and God lives. With each surrender of ego, new information flooded in my being as a reward. I gave up resistance to all things, controlling life and being in control. Before I knew it, I had given workshops in many states, studied herbalism for 15 years with wondrous mentors, learned space clearing, and incorporated Feng Shui into my new Career. I painted with knowledge of the color and energy of the 5 Elements, added face reading, and toured China and Taiwan with my Master Teacher Professor Lin Yun, who gave me great lessons of Earth and continues to show me the way of compassion for all beings.

My journey has taken me to places I could never have imagined. The circle has begun its last phase. Hopefully I have learned the lessons of letting go. There are signs of new life ahead. Calls are coming each day with new challenges. “Will you teach in New York? Will you come to Hawaii? When is the Arizona art class? Will you be Taiwan for the new temple opening? Will you take a group to China? Come to Diamond Mt. I have a group for Feng Shui in Kansas City, when can you schedule it?”

Using Feng Shui has helped empty out old clutter of the mind, heart and house, now there is space for new works. This is the magic of letting go, giving and receiving.

Your life’s desires are surely different than mine, but the techniques for your past and future to circle are the same. Have them touch in a meaningful way. Give up the things that keep you off balance. Be willing to move forward. Take charge. Yesterday I realized if I live 20 more years I only have 7300 days left to be of service, get things done and be happy! How many days do you have to set things straight? If you are dragging your feet, look to see if the Fire under your Water is turned off.
