Question on Directions

Dear Caroline,

I would like to know which is the correct method of applying the directions for remedies. Is it the actual direction of the luopan or the standard front/middle...career back/left......wealth back/right.....marriage and so on.... I tend to sway to the actual luopan reading but would prefer to use your method.

Also, I have two elephant statues inside my front door. Is it okay? If you have some time, I appreciate it if you give me some free advice.

Thank you for your time and ALOHA from Hawaii,

Dear Reader,

There are always choices in life and you have a choice of choosing a Feng Shui school of thought to suit your needs. I feel they all work, but I am cautious with one called Intuitive, because I have found people drawn exclusively to this idea could have unresolved, private situations which carry over into their client’s environment. Example: A practitioner using strictly their feeling to balance your home could be going through a family crisis, divorce, death of a family member, health problems or an overdrawn bank account. If a consultant uses only gut information or a "spiritual guide" to give them your corrections and cures, I would be concerned for your evaluation.

Form school, Compass school, and Black Hat Sect are a few of the most accepted methods to use. If you have used my website, you will see which method I prefer. Master Lin Yun, a very humble being, teaches the Bagua, or eight-sided shape used for mapping the home, is carried in the heart of all beings. When in proper harmony, the body enjoys health and well being.

Using a luopan is not a requirement of this world-respected method of Feng Shui. His basic teachings are simple and complex. I have found the Black Hat School to suit my client’s needs. It works! After 2500 consultations I have the statistics to prove its value.

Physical direction is not needed for aligning your home. Start with the architectural front door and use this as the entry or where Chi enters your home or business. Don’t neglect your lot or property shape when building your home. This process should start before choosing a location to live, but some people are just now understanding how the home affects all aspects of your life and have already bought, rented or built their dream home. My husband and I have owned over 14 houses and have lived in many apartments over the years. Each residence offers me another space to improve our lives and health by learning more every day about the "Art of Placement."

The idea of Feng Shui, balancing the flow of wind and water in your environment, came from India over 5000 to 6000 thousand years ago. Using a directional was a good thing to do at that time. North winds can create havoc on some continents while in other parts of the world, a north wind can bring relief in the area of blowing winds and bringing much needed rain to a drought-ridden field of corn. Creating peaceful living and working spaces has been a practice of surviving civilizations for centuries, and I’m sure will continue long after I pass from this world. Yin demands Yan and Yan demands Yin. Action and reaction.

While briefly living in your mystical environment for a year, I felt the ALOHA SPIRIT flowing around my soul. Sleeping in our bed at night, the misting mountain rains brushed against my face and body, healing my heart of past sorrows. Hawaii is truly an experience, not a destination.

So you have a choice of schools to learn about. If you don’t care to invest the time for learning the rules of this mathematical equation, I suggest using Black Hat. If you are fascinated by Feng Shui as a tool in your profession, find your favorite and good luck.

Yes, the elephants by the front entry bring happiness and prosperity to your Career.

Sorry it took so long for my reply, but I have been in the process of moving to the Great Northwest. Please check my website fengshuiartistry.com and click on moongateschool for the last three newspaper columns for the details. I have a new office in Anacortes, WA and continue to offer my services. I taught a class of 50+ for a local gardening club, this week a talk for a business group and will be teaching at a local college this winter 2004.

If you would like me to return to the islands for a workshop, please call for details. Thanks for your inquiry and happy Chi Blessings to you!

Hi Caroline,

I am very interested in Feng Shui, have several books and would like to take more classes. I wasn't sure if your class schedule on your website were for 2003 or 2002. I am particularly interested in finding out how I can create better space for conceiving, as we are having difficulty and are starting IVF next month.

Thank you and I’ll look forward to finding out when your next lectures are being held.

Dear Reader,

Sorry Robin, I have moved on an island in the great northwest called Guemes north of Anacortes Washington. You missed about 160 classes that I gave in the Bay Area. I have opened an office in Anacortes called Caroline’s Feng Shui Concepts. The websites listed below will still be open and moongateschool carries my weekly newspaper column West Meets East. I have many new stories to share with my readers on the experiences of my recent relocation, I will still answer as many questions as I can in the articles. Please continue to email me with your Feng Shui questions. Speaking engagements and consultations will be done in person, phone and fax, after your appointment is confirmed. Thanks for your interest.
