Health in the Bedroom Sleeping spaces should be quiet, serene, and healthy. This is the room where health is restored after a stress-filled day. Here is an email question which gives you several ideas for decor and furniture arrangement when choosing a perfect room for restoring your soul.
Dear Caroline,
I need one cure. Our feet face the door in bed and our heads are under the window. Because of the makeup of the room, our bed fits this way. What is the cure for this?
Thanks, A Reader
Dear Reader,
Bedrooms are considered very special in the art of arrangement called Feng Shui. First to answer your question, I personally would try to arrange the bed differently, because you are in a direct line of a suction-like wave. With the window to the back and your feet to the door, the pull of Chi or the invisible line of energy pulls at you body. Hang a 50-mm lead crystal between you and the door and keep the window covered. Where is the bathroom located? How is your health?
Hope this helps.
Caroline
Dear Caroline,
Thank you for your reply.
The bathroom is located to the right of the foot of the bed; the bed is away from the bathroom. I even thought about moving the bed to an angle in the corner of the room, which moves the foot of the bed away from the door.
I have some health problems, not major: sinus, acid reflux, insomnia, 50 pounds overweight and a sudden bad breath, not due to teeth or tongue problems.
Again, thank you for your reply.
A Reader
Dear Reader,
Hello again, beds and bedrooms hold so much of our energy as we spend over half of our lives in the bed. There are many questions to ask about bed situations. Are you married or in a committed relationship? (I dont know if I like the word committed related to this question!) Are you happy? Are you healthy? How old is the mattress? Are you sleeping on a mattress from a past relationship? Did you purchase the bedroom furniture new, or has it been passed down through the family? Was the home a happy one in the previous house? Did you buy the mattress from a divorced friend? What is your age? Are there children in the home? What is the color decor of the sleeping space? What artwork have you chosen for this room? Is there space under the bed for air to circulate properly? Is your bed under a window? Is your bed in line with doorways? Is the room cluttered? Where is the laundry basket? Where do Rover and Kitty Cat sleep? How stuffed is your closet and drawers? Are there beams or bookshelves above your head and body? Does the ceiling slant toward your head? Do you have a television, computer, workout equipment or a radio clock near the bed? Is there a large power source inside or outside the house, or a school, graveyard, hospital or grocery across the street? In what section of the house is the bedroom? Are books overwhelming the room? Does the room smell fresh and inviting? How many mirrors are in the room, and where are they placed? How many pictures of family are watching while you sleep and enjoy romance?
These are a few questions and observations a Feng Shui consultant must make when coming to your home. Every household is different. Just last week several houses had many of these innocent problems. This is why I ask each individual what changes they want to focus on. After the floor plan is drawn, mapping the home is the next step using the Bagua, or tool used for locating the mouth of the Chi according to your front door. Although each room can be Feng Shuid separately, the overall floor plan and shape of the property where you reside affects your health, spirit and environmental feelings.
To address your particular situation, please go through the above questions to narrow down the current problem. One important question which wasnt asked is, What part of the home is this bedroom in? The best placement for adult parents in is the far back right room of the house. I have written many articles on this important Qua or area called Partnership or marriage. Placing the bed at an angle will help avoid the complications in your room, if pipelines arent running downward in the walls behind your headboard or there isnt a toilet on the same wall behind your head. During one peculiar consultation I noticed pipes exposed next to a bed. The couple did have insomnia. They covered the wall that day and overslept the next morning for the first time since living in the house. Sometimes the cures seem so simple, but are of consequence when dealing with electromagnetic and element energies. We wouldnt consider sleeping with our finger in an electric socket, but we choose to sleep over garages with chemicals, motors, cars and machines that emit unhealthy Chi, circulating upward and outward as we rest. What is stored above and below your sleeping space? Place a lush up-growing tree behind the vacant space behind the angled bed or fill in the area with soft, light curtains. Place a wind chime above the space to raise the Chi and a 50-mm lead crystal hung between you and any doorways.
Stop eating sugar, white flour, dairy, cheese (which is also dairy) and citrus for two weeks. These lactose and mucus products block the liver and cause a series of unseen and slow diseases in many humans. See how your body feels as you unclog the liver and give it a chance to work. Drink teas such as dandelion and nettles with a sprig of mint to help the digestion process. As we age, our digestion is hampered by these over-processed foods. With all of the quick-fix foods on the market, children and adults are currently suffering with breathing problems, joint pain, and sugar-related disorders. During my years of herbal apprenticeships, I had the pleasure of learning the power of plants with many well-known herbalists as well as Lois Johnson in Santa Rosa, California and Gladys McGary in Scottsdale, Arizona, both MDs. These two caring women, along with best seller of Womens Wisdom, Womens Bodies, Christian Northrup, have revolutionized the world of medicine.
Unclog and unclutter the body, mind and environment during your next phase of change. Mow, cut back and prune the outdoors, while working to rid the inside of the home of unnecessary clutter. Give your body a break during this clean-up period. If you are moving to a new location, give yourself a gift by lightening the load!
