Choosing the Right Floor Plan Can Save You Dollars
West Meets East ©Caroline Patrick 2002 • 1-7-02

Money, the amount we earn, how much we save and how much we spend determines many of our life’s expectations. Feng shui can help you make many of these wise financial decisions without having to know why it works. Just the equal balance of the adjustment, through enhancement, in the form of décor, color, visual images or furniture placement prevents stagnation and allows the unseen chi or breath of life, unlocking the abundance and prosperity section of your home, business or landscaping.

This area called wealth is located at the far back left corner of the structure. Here are two wealth questions recently e-mailed to me for my advice on this subject.

Dear Ms. Patrick,

I have read your article in the Kajama and then went to you website. It was very interesting. I have read two other books about feng shui but neither offered any advice about what to do if your bathroom is in the "Wealth and Prosperity" section. Please excuse the e-mail, I’m never sure of the time difference and didn’t want to call at a bad time. Could you please tell me what I can do about the bathroom being in this section? Actually, there is a closet in the very corner. Would doing the inside of the closet in purple and placing flowers etc. help any? What about keeping the door open or closed? Thank you.

Hi,

Where do you live? I don’t remember where Kajama Publication is distributed, but I’m glad you found the article. I practice Black Hat Feng Shui and have done over 2000 consultations. I have a book coming out this year. It will be the perfect feng shui number one book on the market for mapping your own dwellings. I have a booklet now self-published with 100 or so stories. Call the shop for more information.

Regarding your question, talk to your house and tell it you have learned valuable lessons, that you love your home and then explain to it you have learned all the money struggle lessons you need to and are ready to move on. If the wealth corner is a bathroom or even a closet in the far back left corner of your home, it may show symbolically a spend thrift or that your money is in storage.

The door to this room should be mirrored creating an Alice In Wonderland type of opening into prosperity land. Purple activates this qua. A 30 — 50 mm round lead crystal should be hung in the center of the closet or bath. I would install that wonderful light in a tube that is like Christmas lighting, which plugs into any outlet. Music, bells and wind chimes activate the chi.

There is so much to consider. Missing parts inside and outside the dwelling. Where is the clutter in the house? This is the main clue needed to locate stagnate energy. Good luck, check out the class schedules coming up soon. I do consultations from a far by fax and phone.

Dear Caroline,

I read your article on Feng Shui for Wealth and found it very enlightening and educational. At the end of your article, you stated that if my bathroom is located at the left rear section of the house to contact you. Well, guess what? My bathroom is located at the left rear side of my home. However, I have a second floor on which my daughter’s bedroom is located at the left rear corner of the house. Any suggestions?

Hi,

In the practice of Black Hat Feng Shui, we usually consider the rule "As below, so above" or that the top story is lined up with the bagua below. You should take advantage of the upper story and enhance this wealth and prosperity area of the home with shades of purple. Sometimes I suggest going to a fabric store to see what is available in combinations of design that appeal to both you and your daughter. When my daughter was a teen, her favorite colors were lively lime and navy blue. Actually these two colors connect to knowledge and career or water and wood. This was before I understood the vibrational and elemental association with these colors. It was true that the blue and green promoted an atmosphere of learning and retaining knowledge. She was the top student of her graduating class and now has a wonderful career with a top salary. She is also very knowledgeable about feng shui and takes advantage of its powerful influence.

Make the lower left side bathroom the most beautiful retreat imaginable. Lovely lavender towels are a plus. Place a green bamboo plant on the back of the toilet. This provides an up growing energy, keeping the chi fro spiraling down the commode. Rice, popcorn or a grain (uncooked please) in a basket or a cup placed below the toilet is another cure. Grapes, money, and fish are other image suggestions. Keep all drains closed when not in use. Place a 30 to 50 mm lead crystal in the center of the bathroom. Paint is another affordable way to shift energy. I have painted many murals in homes to alter the flow of chi or energy. Whether you decide to use lavender or purple on one wall or all four walls, this energy boost will be felt. Chinese coins and wind chimes are also beneficial.

A quick check of the backyard might also reveal clues to money problems. A fountain in this outside section of the backyard is a plus for abundance. It must be left running though! Treat it like a family pet and feed it water, keep it clean.

Your energy comes across as easygoing and cheerful. Let your house smile and if it objects — move to another house with a feng shui friendly floor plan with bathrooms in the left or right middle sections. I want everyone to enjoy abundance without struggle. "If it’s not broken, I don’t fix it" or if your life is going well, good for you. Stay there.

A good New Year clutter fix, to get the energy moving is to get rid of 27 things in 9 days. Good luck.
