First Apartment and the Bagua

Determining how to lay the Bagua, or eight-sided Feng Shui tool, over the footprint or floor plan of a home is the first step to mapping the home. Some times several emails are necessary as I want to correctly map the site. Here are some of the ins and outs of this process. Every individual is unique, as some clients describe in detail while others creatively work through the description. Our personalities are a combination of Water, Wood, Fire, Metal and Earth. This wonderful young woman seems to be a Water and Wood person as she is painting a picture of her new life with emotion, creativity and new growth of her Career.

Hi Caroline,

I love your very informative web site! I am moving into my first apartment, which is located on the second floor of a mother/daughter house, and I am having a hard time mapping the Bagua of the apartment as a whole. I have attached a rough sketch of the apartments lay out and was wondering if you could help me do so.

In the living room there is a large window. In the dining room there is a window to the left, close to the corner. In the kitchen there is a window in the middle right. In the spare bedroom, kitchen and guest rooms, there are windows in the middle right. In the guest room there is a window straight back as you walk, in as well as a closet. In the master room there are two windows. They are on the back wall close to the left corner, and as you walk in the room, next to the half bath. There is also a window on the same wall in the half bath and full bath. The front door is located to the left of the house, and it is the top floor apartment. A staircase leads you from the front door to the living room.

It’s a mother/daughter house. My entrance in on the left, when you enter there is a flight of stairs. From those stairs, you enter the living room if you walk straight or the kitchen if you turn left. The living room is the small piece of an L, the dining room is the large piece of an L. You can enter the kitchen from the dining room as well. There is a hallway from the kitchen to the main bath and three back rooms.

Thank you,

Dear Reader,

First, I’m glad to see the layout for the upstairs is good, but need to know if you have a separate door with a key to enter your space? Or do you both enter from the same front architectural entry, then go up the stairs and enter your space with no door. Then I can tell you how to place the Bagua.

PS: Stay with me on this, as the answer is a little different for each house and apartment. We want to keep your money flowing. What is your wish and intent and plans for the future?

Caroline

Hi,

We each have our own separate entrances, my front door is on the left and hers (my grandmother’s) is right next to it on the right. There is also a door between the two apartments which is kept locked on each end.

I am 24 years old, and I graduated last May. My intent for the future is to get experience in the event planning field and eventually own my own firm. I would like to get married and be a mother one day, but I would like to have a firm foundation in my career before that occurs.

Thank you again for all of your help, it is truly appreciated!

Good morning,

To map a home properly, I must understand where your front door is located and I’m still confused. Go to your original drawing and try to mark the spot.

Do you enter downstairs from the outdoors and go up a private stairway? Is it to the left of the drawing on the wing of the living room? Do you make any turns coming into the living room?

After we establish the entry of Chi or energy, I will know how to place the Bagua. Also where is the street or streets in reference to the two-story house? Are you close to schools, hospitals, graveyards or any public places? Are there huge power lines close by? Does anyone have health problems? Do you have a job? In what city are you living?

Thanks, Caroline
