West Meets East© By Caroline Patrick Compass School and Black Sect Feng Shui
When you become more curious about the ancient Art of Placement, the subject of Feng Shui takes many paths. If you began to read about the beginnings of "wind and water" or the environment and nature in balance, learning all of the schools of thought could take a lifetime. This client is asking about the correct direction for sleeping. I find the power position of the bed to be the most important direction for the bed, or to say against a solid wall unless there are pipes or electrical wires interfering with the brain. That's not good! But there are schools of thought which consider the best directions for the owner of the home and the family members. As you see, it can be very complex. Who gets the best direction? If you are an avid Feng Shui disciple, you might want to consider learning more about this idea. But the answer to the woman's question is, your head points toward the best direction. Also I have found great success in using the solid wall effect. If you feel uncomfortable, move, it may be a geometric stress line is running under ground and makes you scoot to the edge of the bed. So move the bed!
Hi Caroline,
Can you help me to understand the "sleeping position" part of Feng Shui? When a person is in his/her most auspicious sleeping position, which one is closest to the auspicious direction (NE, for example): the head or the feet. To say it a little plainer: if the person is leaning on a pillow (when reading in bed, for example), would the person be looking TOWARD the auspicious direction, or would the auspicious direction be behind the person?
One of the links (Caroline's Art) is not working - I was hoping to see your art. (I will send more red envelopes!)
Thanks for any help.
A Reader
Dear Reader,
Hi there, as I have mentioned before there are many schools of Feng Shui and combining them can be confusing. What you are referring to is great to use as a tool for someone who has the patience for finding their best directions every year and using this knowledge for seating and stove positions.
99% of my clients want an easy quick way to improve their lives. I have found that Black Sect Feng Shui fills that need very well. Sometimes I will use a compass, {Roger Green's improvement of the Lo P'an Compass, translated into English by him many years ago}for outside directions and Black Hat and Form School inside a dwelling. Bed positions and bedroom locations are very important for life-supporting events, but it gets very sticky when determining who gets the best position, husband or wife, when choosing "their best"! The unwritten rule is the person who brings home the most money wins this status! Then accordingly, the other spouse wins the house direction in their favor. Complicated, huh? So I have found the rules of harmony for daily living are easiest to follow for the couple's bedroom. Here are a few main things to observe. Have the bed against a solid wall within view of the door and windows without any major wiring or drains inside the wall behind the bed. There should be no computers, electric blankets, radio clocks or other high sources of EMF's in the sleeping environment, and no bed in line with a toilet or a mirror that reflects on the bed. This Yin room is best when located in the far back right hand corner from the front entry to the home. There are corrections for most every situation, but blatant disregard of placement and not using the common rules of Feng Shui for living only shows the consultant and hopefully the client that there are other issues to be uncovered with life issues. For example, a recent client chose an office without first asking my advice as to location and address numerology. They just leased the property and then called me to come and take a look at the spaces. The beautiful building's entry was not facing the street, and the whole power source for the large city was within 100 yards of the front door. His offices were backed up to the voltage towers and across the street were more of the same with giant lines strung overhead above the street. What can I do to help this business? Sometimes the client just has to walk through the gates of life and learn through experience! Sorry for the website disruption, as two new pages are being set up to sell my latest artwork THE 5 ELEMENT SERIES. There will be prints in several sizes and a folding card accordion style, which can be mailed or given as gifts as an enhancement to any room for Feng Shui purposes. Another page will be a picture travelogue. Thank you for the red envelope payment as giving red envelopes generate the yang energy for action and blessings moving both parties forward in their endeavours. Caroline Patrick |
