West Meets East© By Caroline Patrick The Clues Are There
I receive many emails each week from people young and old wanting to improve their lives. Why not? We all want less stress and more free time to enjoy time to play. Setting up your environment to allow more free time is the first suggestion. Sit down and write a list of what is most important to you at this particular time in your life. Usually material items top the list. A new this or that is thought to be needed to make your life perfect. I challenge you to think out this latest request. Why do you need this item? Remember everything you own is you. Its similar to packing more pounds onto an already wide waistline. Looking back over my life, I realize over and over shopping became a symptom of a deeper lack in my life. Usually obsessions took place when I felt out of control. If I had known about feng shui earlier in my life, Im sure the procrastination practices would have stopped sooner. Buying, crying, overeating, sleeping, excessive cleaning, helping others to the point of exhaustion is cataloged as the disease to please. Now sit back and start another list. Start with your original desire. What was your reply to this simple question around the age of five or six years old before your mind was set full of fear by well meaning adults whose dreams were squashed before they could fulfill their purpose? Writing activates three centers of your being. The mind or mental, the body or physical and the spiritual, the highest connection of all, with the universal god force! Now there is a powerful connection and source to contact. Most of the email and phone questions have to do with, "where do I put the couch, mirror, fountain or desk?" The suggestions I give are based on feng shui principles 4-5000 years ago by ancient masters of the balance and flow of studied energies. Today we want simple, quick advice without all of the history information. Whether you wanted to be a circus elephant trainer or deep-sea diver, some of this emotion can still be brought to the surface, by reading, joining groups involved in these passions or start a group. With computers, all of this information is at your fingertips. Who would have thought I would be consulting clients in Australia, Hong Kong, Ireland and Walla Walla, Washington. To begin the journey of a different job, check the front of your home for curb appeal. Flowers in bright colors create a current of energy. Red is the color for action. Park your car as a guest might at the entry to the sidewalk. What is your first impression of the family that occupies this house? Next walk up to the front door. Hopefully, a wind chime greets the welcomed visitor, called 'chi.' {Of course, Im sure you didnt walk into your home from the garage where the first thing you see is the dirty laundry and the cat litter box.} The next feng shui adjustment needed for clarity is a large lead crystal hanging from the chandelier. This little item packs a large energy boost to the career and job opportunity section of your living space. Next scan the view. What you first see when entering the home announces who you are in the world. Make this entry a grand presentation. Are there blockages of shoes, coats, a blank wall, an ironing board? These all send messages that your world is full of work and you are too busy to change. The vicious circle of procrastination has begin. Take ten minutes to clear off all working spaces and throw away that junk mail. Clear the decks and dump the clutter. Clear messages will soon follow after the blockages are removed. I have seen lives changed by these simple ideas. Mapping the home with feng shui techniques is the first step forward toward finding that lost child with fantastic memories of lost dreams with certain clues to future possibilities. -- Carolines Arts & Feng Shui Shoppe 129 First St. Suite K Benicia, Ca. 94510 707-748-1127 caroline@fengshuiartistry.com wwwfengshuiartistry.com www.moongateschool.com.
