California Feng Shui, Part 2

Waking up to a faint smell of burning incense, I imagined myself near a temple in Asia, high on a mountain overlooking a vast scenic vista of a morning sunrise. A smile crossed my lips remembering such a view during my recent trip to Taiwan. I turned over in the small bed, hoping to catch a few more moments of bliss and reluctant to let go of the vision.

Soon enough though, doors in the dormitory setting of the Culture Center began softly opening and closing, as visitors, disciples and students of Feng Shui took turns sharing the facilities. I could hear children’s faint giggles behind the walls of the four-story old building, snuggled in the Berkeley Hills of California. A sense of knowledge filled each small room, as if the hundreds of previous students left a part of their essence to share with the next “guest.” I treasure my stays in this place, as sleep comes quickly in a sacred space, and I look forward to basking in the ambiance of the majestic “house” where many prayers have been chanted.

I arrived in California the previous week giving consultations, teaching and speaking at the Faerytale in Benicia on First Street. But these next two days were dedicated to learning even more of Grandmaster Professor Lin Yun’s teachings on the Art of Placement. Excitement began to build as groups left The Culture Center and made our way to a large campus building reserved for the events. As always, Professor Lin imparted “secret of secrets” to the large audience of world travelers. The dept of his wisdom continues to help my family and those of my clients.

Such seemly simple adjustments of furniture, bed, desk and stove positions in a house, using certain colors, sounds, and objects to shift the energy of a person, family or situation, is valuable information, based on ancient teachings of energy and the how Chi flows in the environment.

Design details continue to plague our children. Ceilings sloping in a downward motion toward their heads all night, electrical wiring, clocks and computers disturb and disrupt sleep, depleting Chi in the body and causing hidden health and study issues. Parents sleeping without solid headboards loose strength and lack support, and the parent’s energy becomes separated and “leaks” through the open bed frame designs. The good news is there are ways to adjust and “fix” these problems. We continued to learn about personal Chi as fifteen students were chosen for examples. They stood at the front of the room while Master Teacher Lin Yun pointed out face shapes and the energy of each person.

Dinner is always an event, and those who join Professor come away with new friends from all over the world. I was honored to spend a few moments in private and ask His Holiness if there was a special message he would like to impart to my readers. For the first time in many years, he hesitated and then spoke. “The subject of what you write about isn’t as important as how you write. If you give a message with sincerity, honesty, compassion and love, people will know it comes from the heart. And what comes from the heart is healing and effective. Continue to write about Feng Shui and other subjects as you wish, but always write from the heart.” A simple lesson, but so profound that chills ran up and down my arms and spine, a sure sign for me that his words are worth passing on. If we conduct our lives in honesty, love and compassion, then we give from our heart. What better way to find peace and harmony?

Two weeks seemed only two days long as I finished the last consultation and then a dinner with my advanced students in the area. I gave them new information to pass on to others. Some students use the “cures” for their own families, while others combine the knowledge of Feng Shui with their businesses. A midwife, an interior designer, a city employee, a therapist, an attorney, a builder, an animal care giver, several architects, a gift business owner, a housing developer, a nurse, a homemaker, a banker, a hopeful mayor, a counselor and a landscaper were just a few of the occupations of people who wanted my services in the Bay Area on this scheduled visit, twenty in all. Two great classes were also attended by old friends and newly interested people.

My thanks to those who made the trip a success. Please remember, you can also get a consultation by phone, email and fax, or call to schedule an appointment for the next California trip, (360) 424-1501.
