Answer the Phone and Change Your Life, Part 2

The meeting took place on a beautiful Arizona winter morning. The large conference table seemed vacant with only five seats occupied. The worried investors hovered over the blueprints of the buildings in question, waiting for any Feng Shui solutions which could change the directions of their lives. I studied the shape of the land, its surrounding history or predecessor Chi, and design details of the new buildings. After an hour or so of questions and answers, the main developer became very intrigued with the strategies of using Feng Shui on other projects in the Valley. I did several cures on site over the next three hours and gave instructions which, as a team, they began to implement immediately.

Thinking the consultation was finished, one of the investors inquired if I might have time to look over his home and ranch, north of Phoenix. I was very familiar with this side of “town,” as my son and his family lived a few blocks from his ranch in the 1990’s. He mentioned his extreme concern over a seriously injured colt. The young horse had raced through a gate the previous day and ripped his whole left flank open. He needed to return to the ranch as quickly as possible. The veterinarian was keeping him medicated but a decision needed to take place on whether to put him down. I felt an immediate tug at my heart for this young horse and told the man we would drive that way in a couple of hours and I would be glad to see his home. When individuals or companies are having money or any major life problems, it is wise to investigate the homes of the owner and sometimes the employees’ houses. Clues to their current financial or other situations, such a divorce or health, can be seen in a floor-plan design.

My tired, but eager, friend drove north as the Arizona skies turned into their nightly magic. The evening sunset danced with the colors of Fire, Water, Earth and Wood. Although I lived and taught art in Arizona for over 12 years, I still am thrilled by its nightly display. We drove into the gates of the ranch as the clouds formed into vibrant colored wings. The wings covered the whole Western sky in multiples. It looked as if eight huge birds were flying over the stables. We entered the house and yes, the massive house gave clues to the financial unrest of the client’s life. My friend once again took tons of notes for me to unravel after the holidays, back in my office. Just as we were leaving, the owner asked if I would like to see his prize horses. I love horses and was very happy to follow this special man to a fenced arena. A beautiful stallion came into view. I thought I was in a Black Beauty movie! The owner’s pride was evident. His eyes instantly misted over and this once prize-winning famous rodeo cowboy became young before my eyes. He called softly and the prize horse trotted toward his master’s voice.

The black stallion snorted, kicked, circled and spun a few times before coming closer. The glowing sunset reflected in his dark eyes. A big white star marked his forehead. Flinging his head up and down, I became dizzy watching and waiting for him to calm down. Stretching his long graceful neck, a wet nose touched my outstretched hand. Cautiously he inched nearer, until his teeth gently nibbled my fingers. At this moment I reached up and placed my hand on his forehead. He stood very still and did not move for a few minutes. My heart opened to this beautiful creature. In the Chinese Zodiac a horse represents the heart. What a gift and honor. We lingered in the dusk, listening to the silence of the desert and enjoying the company of this creature.

Suddenly it was dark and we strolled into the large stables. Horses nibbled at their feed and looked curiously at the newcomers talking and pointing in their direction. At the next stall the owner stopped. His face changed in the dim light. The quick smile turned downward and a mask of stress flooded across his brows as we stood even with the injured horse. A very young colt stood rigid except for a hoof pulled tight into the air from pain. On his hindquarter was an open gash over a foot long, partially stitched. I couldn’t quit looking at the wound and feeling the horse’s pain. In the back of my conscious I could hear his owner’s story of the accident. “He is young and feisty and was racing the other horses through the gate when he became caught in the gate, panicked and ripped this gash in his leg. The vet and I have been working on him day and night. I may still have to ‘put him down.’ It is time for an injection, and he is now so skittish, I can hardly get the pain meds in a vein.” The sadness and joy of loving animals came back to my mind immediately. Living on a farm in this same state several years before, I had doctored many of our animals. Some lived and some died.

I very slowly put my hand out so he could smell my scent. He jumped back a few times, but with his owner’s calm voice, he finally let me touch his throat, several minutes went by as I worked my hand up to his breast and began giving Reiki energy to him or some call it “hands-on healing”. Slowly his eyes lids relaxed and began closing. Next he leaned into me with his nose at my neck and pressed his face into mine. The colt breathed deeply into my breath as if to give him strength. Each breath I let out he took in. I continued the Reiki for a long while as he laid his head in my neck. My heart connected to his and I felt my body become one with this little horse. After a long while I eased backward, the gate to his stall was shut and the day ended.

I continue to answer my phone if possible, as I don’t want to miss these life-changing opportunities. They can’t be planned, and come when you least expect them. Maybe my life is taking another turn.
